Mark Irwin is from Columbiaville, MI, and has been racing for more than 40 years. He was introduced to racing in the 1960’s and 70’s through a high school classmate whose dad raced Sprint cars back in the 30’s and 40’s. Mark built his first race car in the back yard, and has built several more since then once he had access to a garage. He has competed in a variety of open-wheeled events through the years, but now focuses his efforts exclusively on Non-winged Sprints in car #56. Mark is a retired machinist, and admits that, with two sons involved in racing, most of his waking hours are spent reading about racing, watching races on TV, going to races, or working on race cars. When he isn’t thinking about racing, Mark, a former coach, is also passionate about baseball.
